He observe things around him. He think of an idea that no one could ever imagine. His curiosity gave him the passion to experiment things that surrounds him. His name is Leonardo Da Vinci.
I read an article entitled "Leonardo Da Vinci & Science, Observation, Empiricism, and Mathematics" by Austin Cline of atheism.about.com. This articles tells about Leonardo da Vinci as an artist at the same time a scientist. It says that Leonardo believed that a good artist should be a good scientist, because an artist cannot produce color, texture, dept and proportion. It is also said that Leonardo Da Vinci was very passionate when it comes to sounds, time, numbers, weight, space, etc. One of his famous work was the Vitruvian Man, it was a drawing of Leonardo that demonstrate the proportions of the human body. The author said "His role in Renaissance Humanism, and also of course his role in the history of art -- humanism is not just a philosophy of logic and science, but also of life and aesthetics."
Leonardo da Vinci, an artist, at the same time a scientist. He has a different kind of thinking. He proved that there is a big connection between art and science.
I also read another article entitled "Leonardo da Vinci, Neuroscientist" by Jonathan
Pevsner of scientificamerican.com. This article tells about the ideas and things that Leonardo made in his life. It says that Leonardo was an accomplished musician, entertainer, scientist, artist, etc.He wrote his ideas in his notes, further more it says that hundred of his notes and anatomical drawing was unpublished. He sketched anatomical features based on his direct observations. It also says that he study he brain sensory and how mind functions. "The archetypal Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci draws wide admiration for his unequaled range of intellectual passions", the author said.
I like the way he put his ideas and observations in his note detail by detail. His notes give us the idea on how he study things only by his direct observations. Also, as an ABMA student, he encourages me to practice and draw anatomical drawing too.

Blogpost 7: Man in Abstract
Leonardo da Vinci was a very mysterious man. There's a lot of things we don't know about him. The way he think is simply impressive, so here are some weird stuff that I discovered as I search the internet.
I read an article entitled "20 Things You Don't Know About... Leonardo da Vinci" by Alex Stone and Jason Stahl of discovermagazine.com. This article tells about the 20 weird stuff that we don't about Leonardo Da Vinci, but I will discuss only few things that caught my attention. The article says that the smile of Mona Lisa means she was secretly pregnant, in addition she was amused by the musician and clowns who entertained her while Leonardo painting her. Also researchers used a software called "face-recognition" to Mona Lisa's face, as a result it says that Mona Lisa is 83% happy, 9% disgusted, 6% fearful, and 2% angry. The article also says that in December 2000 a skydiver named Adrian Nicholas landed in South Africa using a parachute that was designed by Leonardo. "He crushed intelligent design before anyone even thought of it.", says the author.
I discovered a lot of thing about him that don't know before. I was totally amazed when I discover that the smile of Mona Lisa means she was pregnant. He contributed a lot of ideas that we often use in our generation.
I also read an article entitled "The handedness of Leonardo da Vinci: a tale of the complexities of lateralisation." by McMasnus Ic and Drury H. of ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. The article tells about the handedness Leonardo da Vinci. His handedness is still controversial. It says that his drawing were drawn with the left hand, further more, some people says he was a left-handed as the result of an injury to his right hand. It also says the he showed almost no direction with handedness. The author says "This suggests that individual differences in handedness, and behavioural laterality in general, have a structural complexity which is not fully encompassed by simple measures of direction or degree of handedness."
It is still not clear for me if Leonardo was a left-handed or right-handed. But for me, his handedness does not matter anymore. What important his he was able to give us his ideas clearly despite of his abstract thinking.

Blogpost 6: Genius Men
What would it take to be a genius? As I search the internet about the famous genius it results only two people, Leonardo da Vinci and Michel Angelo.
I read an article entitled "Is Leonardo da Vinci a great artist or a great scientist?" by Jonathan Jones of theguardian.com. This article is about the division of Leonardo da Vinci as a scientist and as an artist. The Royal Collection says Da Vinci was a scientist while the National Gallery gang says he was an artist. So who's right? It says that Leonardo was a scientist and an artist at the same time and in a way totally an imaginable today. It also says that the scientific thinking of Leonardo was inherited by the from ancient Greece. His thinking was a curious mixture of existence of atom by Democritus and the superstitious thinking that pervades the Hippocratic Writings. "For me, Leonardo's anatomical drawings are both icons of science, and wonders of art." , said the author.
Based on my opinion, we don't need to argue with that perception. Leonardo Da Vinci was both a great artist and scientist. I like the way he think, particularly with the things that he inherited by Democritus.
I read an article entitled"Outsider Geniuses: Michelangelo and Leonardo" by Staton Peele of phycologytoday.com. This article is about Leonardo Da Vinci and Michel Angelo. According to the article they disliked each other. It says that Leonardo had a formal education which causes Michel Angelo insecurity and envy.It also says that Michel Angelo was considered the divine man, while Leonardo was considered as The Renaissance Man . The article also included the thing they have in common. First is they both have a natural talent, they were both deprived of their mothers at an early age. They both have the early opportunities to develop and perfect their skills. Also they're both outsiders. The author says "A strong sense of themself, an impenetrable ego, a feeling of their own specialness, and practice at ignoring doubt and scorn."
In my opinion both of them had given a big contribution in Renaissance era that we may use in our generation. They both have same skills and talent that they may contribute in the society.

Blogspot 5: Famous works of Leonardo Da Vinci
He was considered as the Renaissance Man. He is a mysterious artist who did a very controversial artworks. He is Leonardo Da Vinci, so I did a research about some of his famous artwork.
I read an article entitled "'The Last Supper' by Leonardo Da Vinci" by Shelly Esaak of arthistory.about.com. The article is in question and answer format. It is about The Last Supper that was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. According to the article Leonardo was requested by Ludovico Sforza (Duke of Milan) to paint it. He was an employer of that Duke for 18 years. He began working on it in 1495 and finished it in 1498. The article says The Last Supper is very remarkable because the disciples are all displaying very human. Although he was not the one who painted the last supper first, his version is more natural, it is like real people acting as a real people. Also the its was considered as the greatest example of one point perspective. It directs in one attention, and its Christ's head. The painting was composed of the 12 disciples and Christ. "The Duke decided he wanted this particular religious scene of Jesus and the Apostles at the Last Supper painted and Leonardo, who was not stupid, decided painting it made perfect financial sense," says Shelly Esaak.
For me, this is one of the greatest work of Leonardo Da Vinci. This painting is still very controversial. Researchers still studying the mysteries behind it. But I think the main reason why this painting is well known is because the perspective was perfectly made. He rely in one attention and its Jesus Christ.
I also read another article entitled "The Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci by Marion Boddy-Evans of painting.about.com. The article tells about the famous painting, the Mona Lisa. It says that the the woman behind it was Lisa Gherardini, a wife of Francesco del Giocondo who was a cloth merchant in Florence. The articles says that the actual painting is now in the Lourve in Paris. It also says the reason of her smile is she was pregnant. The author said that he was disappointed when the first time he saw the painting, he said it was too small like you don't need to spread your arms out all the way to pick it up. He also suggested to visit or take a look at the actual painting. The article says that the more you look, the more you see. According to Marion Boddy-Evans, "Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting, in the Louvre in Paris, is arguably the most famous painting in the world."
I was disappointed when discovered that the painting is too small, I also thought that it is big or even huge. But for me, the size does not matter, what important is the passion and art behind it.

Blogpost 4:Father of Science
As I search the internet, it says that Leonardo Da Vinci was the father of science. I wondered why, so I decided to read some of articles about him that focuses about science and how he study different things that is impossible in his time.
I read an article entitled "The Original Renaissance Man" by Liane Beam of faze.ca. This article tells about Da Vinci's life as an artist, scientist and inventor, but lets focus about Da Vinci as a scientist. It says that his idea is so broad that he can't even finish things that he started. He put his experiments and idea in his illustrated notebooks, but he never published his ideas. He come up with an idea by observing the nature, and ask himself about what he saw. Leonardo also did a creepy investigations, like for example he gathered the dead bodies of the criminals and us it to examine human body. "During the later years of his life, Leonardo was more fascinated by science than he was by art." The author said.
For me, Leonardo was one the best scientist in history. He think of something that no one can imagine in his time. In my opinion, he should have published his works immediately so he could have inspire more people than making his ideas private.
I also read an article entitled "Leonardo da Vinci's earth-shattering insights about geology" by Jonathan Jones of theguardian.com. This article tells about Leonardo Da Vinci as geologist. Its says that the shells and fish bones he gathered in mountain top must be the remains of animals that swam in these places when they were covered with sea. Leonardo also stated that the most powerful natural force is the movement of water in rivers. It also says that he did not think these things in abstract, but he did real research. There was also a story that Leonardo went in the mountain and reached the top then he wrote in his note about his exploration in that mountain where he found fossil bones. The author said "But creationists who still try to argue against the evidence of the rocks should know that it was not Darwin who struck the first blow against biblical views of nature. It was Leonardo da Vinci"
In my opinion, Leonardo Da Vinci did a great research. He was able to identify the natural environment around him and think of an idea spontaneously.

Blogpost 3: Psychological thinking of Leonardo Da Vinci
He was considered as the father of science, technology and modern research. He is also one of the greatest Renaissance artist. He was a gifted man. Also, his creativity and his works were based on his psychological thinking. He think of impossible ideas that we often use this times; He is Leonardo da Vinci.
As I browse the internet, I read an article entilted "DaVinci’s Creation and Inclination: Art through the Eyes of Psychology as a Therapeutic Tool" by Vanessa Ben Shabetai and Laliv Cohen Israeli of novapublishers.com. It stated that he think and work deeply by his inner world, that his works were based in his bearing soul. He study something that is impossible in his time. His creativity were expressed in his writings and also it says that Leonardo is explaining that the painting must based in scientific research. He also opposed the 'mad brute', it was the war between military engineer making weapons for destruction. "Therefore insisting the creative process will be an ongoing mental one, reflecting and expressing his inner world" stated by the author.
I agree with the author, Leonardo da Vinci was obviously thinking of an idea that is based on his extraordinary mind. I was amazed by his psychological thinking that he think of ideas that is impossible in his time but now, we barely use things that were based in his ideas.
I also read another article entitled "Thinking like Lonardo Da Vinci" by Douglas Eby of psychcentral.com.
The article is comparing Leonardo Da Vinci between Steve Jobs. Leonardo said that “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” While Steve Job, the owner of the apple company said that “We tried to make something much more holistic and simple.” The article also said that when you are trying to solve a problem, the first step is you come up with are very complex, and most of the people stop there that is why they fail. The secret of solving a problem is to live with it, and do a step by step procedure and as the time goes by, you will often discover a simple solution. The author stated that "‘Confusion endurance’ is the most distinctive trait of highly creative people, and Leonardo probably possessed more of that trait than anyone who has ever lived."
Although Leonardo da Vinci and Steve Jobs lived in different time, the author was able to compare them in a very informative way. It shows how two people become successful despite they live in a different era, they become successful because they have same kind of thinking

Blogpost 2: Human Body
Studying human body isn't that easy, but I was amazed when I discover that Leonardo da Vinci made an experiment about human anatomy and it is almost the same as the modern studies.
I read an article entitled "Leonardo da Vinci and the Study of Human Anatomy" by Timothy Sexton of voices.yahoo.com. It says that Leonardo started studying human body back from his apprenticeship with Andra del Verrocchio. Leonardo was given a permission by a hospital in Florence to study human body by the use of corpses. He also study many animals. He study human body by drawing it in his compiled notebooks. Soon he moved his studies in skeletal system and internal organs such as liver, lungs and sexual organs. "Da Vinci was a scientific genius as well as an artistic one."
Leonardo gave a lot of his patience in his studies , the same as us. We also need to sacrifice many things just for the sake of our success, besides it is worth it.
I also read an article entitled "Human Body Part that Stumped Leonardo da Vinci Revealed" by Stephanie Pappas of livescience.com. The articles says that Leonardo da Vinci's human anatomy illustration was surprisingly accurate and it is almost a 500 year old. However he made a one mistake, his female reproductive anatomy was wrong. Its says that Leonardo had a hard time finding a female corpse to experiment with, thats why he made a little mistake. "The Italian Renaissance artist learned anatomy as a way to improve his drawings of the human form, but he also brought a scientist's eye to the discipline."
Nobody is perfect. Even the greatest ones commit mistakes.

Blogpost 1: Biography of Leonardo da Vanci
Ever since I was a kid, I have always wanted to know everything about Leonardo da Vinci. He is a very mysterious man, but first lets talk about his life.
I've read an article entitled "Leonardo da Vinci: Facts and Biography" by Kim Ann Zimmermann of livescience.com that tells about the fact and life of Leonardo da Vinci. He was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci Italy and raised by his father. Almost all of his works and paintings were not complete. He call himself "Renaissance Man" because of his works and his intelligent thinking. One of his greatest work was "Mona Lisa", they says it was Lisa del Gioconda, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo, a silk merchant. The other one was "Last Supper". The painting was in a dinning room with Jesus and his apostles. The painting says that one of his apostles will betray him soon, and it was worked in Santa Maria delle Grazie monastery in Milan. "Leonardo da Vinci, perhaps most noted as an artist, was also an architect, inventor and chronicler of science, among other outlets for his talents."
Life is a full of Mystery. Like Leonardo da Vinci, we need to study hard to discover something new that will lead us to our success.
I've also read an article entitled "The Original Renaissance Man" by Liane Beam of faze.ca, it says that Leonardo da Vinci was born in small mountain town of Vinci, now it is called Italy. He began an apprenticeship when he was 15 with Andrea del Verrocchio, a workshop artist in Florence. It also says that he is the first person to study human proportions, and he apply it to his paintings. His famous paintings were Mona Lisa, Last Supper and The Adoration of Three Kings. As a scientist, he study different ideas, he study things that he can't even invent. He put his studies and ideas in his illustrated notebooks. He also do creepy investigations like he use a dead body just to draw or to examine it. "An important aspect of Leonardo's work as an artist was his ability to combine art and science."
Leonardo was right, we need to imagine things the are impossible. Maybe today it is impossible, but maybe someday our future generation may use it.
